This month we spoke with Lola, a client we interviewed thanks to her husband's review. As soon as we found out about her situation we wanted to talk to her. Not only because of the complexity of their situation, but because thanks to their testimony a barrier is broken: CBD is not a placebo.
Can you tell us a little about shingles?
The herpes zoster virus (also called shingles) is named because it is the agent responsible for both chickenpox and shingles. Generally, we have our first contact with the virus in childhood and it manifests clinically as chickenpox. Once this infection has passed, the virus migrates through the nerve endings from the skin to the ganglion and remains latent there, reappearing in the skin in certain situations, giving rise to the so-called herpes zoster.
Shingles is generally a self-limited condition that resolves spontaneously in one to two weeks. But in some patients, postherpetic neuralgia of variable duration may persist, which is characterized by permanent residual pain that can last even for years. In my case, I have had recurrent shingles.
Could you tell us what your situation was?
Shingles appeared in the summer of 2020, as a result of the stress caused by the pandemic, since I lost my job and my work situation was complicated. This stress caused a failure in my immune system, leading to the appearance of herpes.
It affected me a lot because I practice paddle surfing, I was training to compete and I had to stop my training since I couldn't be exposed to the sun because of the gallbladders, the pain was also too intense, actually exhausting. After about two months, when the herpes episode was disappearing, I began to notice that the pain continued and that during times of stress it was very strong.
How did shingles affect you and affect you in your daily life?
Honestly it has been very hard. It is difficult to explain this experience if you have not suffered an episode of shingles. The pain is continuous. You always feel like you're not feeling well and you never have a good day. You end up getting used to always being in pain. It's very intense and I end up exhausted. It affects my mood, my emotional stability, etc.
Did you or do you use medication?
I began to visit my family doctor who prescribed me a medication that, apart from not mitigating the pain, left me completely unable to work, to be with my children, or to play sports. My mind was cloudy, I felt tired, I was not allowed to think clearly.
In short, after ten days I stopped taking them because they did not reduce my discomfort and caused me more problems. They changed my treatment, but it continued to affect me in the same way. So I gave up since the specialist couldn't prescribe me anything else. He even hinted to me that the only thing I had left was morphine.
What differences have you noticed with the medication?
Above all, I rest deeply but I don't feel drowsy or tired when I wake up. I am more relaxed and calm but without the feeling of being under the effects of medication. I do not lose physical or mental faculties. I am myself.
How and when did you start hearing about CBD oil?
I started hearing about CBD because many athletes used it to recover, rest better, etc. My partner talked to me about the possibility of trying it but the truth is that I wasn't very clear about it. I always thought it would be just another placebo.
Had you tried others before Upani?
No, the truth is that the first one I tried was Upani's, because my partner was very well informed before buying it and it was the one with the best reputation .
How is your experience with us?
The truth is that I am very happy with the result. I didn't expect it at all. It didn't happen from one day to the next. I started with 3 drops 3 times a day, and as the days went by my pain began to decrease, until suddenly I no longer felt anything.
I began to rest much better, I felt much more relaxed, calm, calm. My continuous itching, stinging and pain disappeared.
A marvel.
Does your doctor know you are using Upani?
Not for now, but I have a visit to General Medicine (they gave me a visit months ago, before starting CBD) to have a check-up, especially because the specialist thought it strange that the shingles was recurring. So on that visit I will talk to you about the use of CBD.
Do you think that the use of CBD should be more widespread and normalized for people with a situation similar to yours?
Yes of course.
Would you recommend Upani to someone who may be in a similar situation to yours?
I continually recommend it to other people who suffer from shingles, as well as anxiety,... Above all, I also recommend being VERY constant, and in a few days you begin to see the results.
