About CBD

What is CBD?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, a natural compound found in the hemp plant. It is a remedy to control pain, reduce anxiety and improve sleep.

In the 1990s the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) was discovered in the human body, a network of neurotransmitters that our cells use to communicate with each other. CBD is responsible for binding and activating the receptors.

This system improves mood regulation, appetite, pain, memory and supports daily well-being.

How does CBD work?

CBD acts by binding cannabinoids to our body's endocannabinoid system receptors, CB1 and CB2, allowing them to regulate functions that support and promote our health and well-being, such as mood, appetite, pain, memory and in supporting daily well-being.

What are the benefits of CBD?

The list of benefits of CBD is extensive. Studies to date, including those of the World Health Organization (WHO), show that it is an ideal natural remedy for insomnia, stress or anxiety. In addition, it is also a potent antioxidant, analgesic, anti-nausea and anti-inflammatory.

In the United States, one of the places in the world where CBD is consumed the most, a study was carried out on 5000 people. Sixty percent of those surveyed stated that they took it to reduce anxiety. So much is the boom for its benefits that it is estimated that the CBD industry in the USA will reach 16 billion dollars by 2025.

The next reasons for its consumption are for chronic pain, insomnia and depression.

James MacKillop, co-director of the Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Medicinal Cannabis Research at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, says CBD "holds promise in many different therapeutic avenues because it is safe."

How to choose the CBD percentage according to your needs?

Every body is different and therefore reacts differently. However, here are some tips to help you make the right choice.

The first thing to keep in mind is that the percentages only indicate the amount of CBD per drop.

Knowing this, how to choose yours?

Factors to consider:

What do you want it for?

The first thing to keep in mind when choosing the oil that best suits you is to assess the intensity of your needs. For mild intensity needs, such as a dermocosmetic treatment or mild pain, a lower percentage. If you have more intense problems such as insomnia, stress, anxiety, inflammations, menstrual pain or skin conditions, we recommend a higher percentage.

Age, sex and weight

In general, men tend to have a higher tolerance than women, as is the case with age and weight: the older we get and the more we weigh, the less sensitive we are to the product.

Do you have any doubts?

If in doubt, choose the higher percentage. Sometimes we think our situation is milder than it is. Also, if you choose a higher percentage than you really need, you will use less drops, so the bottle will last longer. If you still have doubts, write us privately and we will help you choose the best one for you.

Give yourself time

Finally, once you have started using the product, we advise you to give yourself time to find the perfect dosage for your body and your needs.

Are there any side effects?

It is common to read that CBD has no side effects, however this statement is not entirely accurate. Like everything in life, it can have side effects. If you eat a lot of lettuce, you get a tummy ache, right? The same thing happens with this, what happens is that they are mild symptoms, that's why many times you can read that it doesn't have... Some of them are: dry mouth, headaches or soft stools, for example.

How is CBD extracted?

Obtained by CO2 extraction. Unlike many other suppliers that usually use the supercritical method, ours uses the subcritical method, which does not require extraction at high temperatures or pressure, so the positive properties of the plant are not affected.

Although the supercritical method produces a higher oil yield and therefore a lower production cost, we opted for the more expensive subcritical method to avoid thermal degradation of cannabinoids and terpenes. This guarantees a pure final product. The oil is produced under the strictest conditions and fully complies with European safety legislation.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System is an intercellular communication system. Its function is to balance the metabolic processes and improve the functions of our body. It is just another system, like the circulatory system.

The Endocannabinoid System plays a fundamental role in the regulation of our physiology, as well as our mood.

However, it is quite possible that you have never heard of it. This is because its discovery is quite close. In the 1990s, during a study on phytocannabinoids, it was discovered that most mammals, including humans, have cannabinoid receptors in our bodies. From then on, research went deeper and deeper until 1992, when the first cannabinoid produced naturally by the body was discovered: anandamide, known as the happiness molecule.

These discoveries, cannabinoid receptors and anandamide, led to the discovery of the Endocannabinoid System.

How does CBD interact with the Endocannabinoid System?

The function of cannabinoids, such as CBD, is to bind and activate receptors. CBD causes the function of the endocannabinoid system to improve so that it balances the rest of our organs.

What it does is to enhance the effects of endocannabinoids, which are already present in our body.

It is important to be clear that we all have an endocannabinoid system and that it is active. The only thing CBD does is to enhance its effects.

How does the Endocannabinoid System work?

Many times, to explain how the Endocannabinoid System works, the analogy of the key and the lock is used. It is the easiest way to understand how it works for those of us who have not studied neuroscience.

The Endocannabinoid System and the endocannabinoids and receptors act as if they were the key and the lock we were talking about. In such a way that the receptors would be the lock and the endocannabinoids would be the key.

Receptors are proteins present in the cell membrane and are the lock for endocannabinoids (cannabinoids that are naturally produced by our body). Endocannabinoids act as a key that binds to the receptors to activate them.

The activation of the receptors produces changes within the cells that act on the endocannabinoid system, which has an impact on the body's physiological processes.

In turn, phytocannabinoids (plant-produced cannabinoids) join this lock to potentiate and enhance the effects of endocannabinoids.

Where are the receptors located and what is their function?

The first receptor discovered was CB1. It is found in the central nervous system and very abundantly in our brain. We can find the CB1 receptor in areas relevant to cognitive functions, such as attention, memory or language. It is also found in areas related to emotional state, pain, sensory perception, visceral perception and motor coordination.

CB2 receptors have been less studied and, therefore, very little is known about them. However, they have been found to be found in the peripheral nervous system and are especially abundant in cells with immune function.

GPR55 receptors are also known to be involved in the regulation of blood pressure, as well as inflammatory pain and bone metabolism. These receptors are found in the digestive system, adrenal glands and central nervous system.

TRPV receptors are responsible for the regulation of pain, inflammation, thermoregulation and muscle tone. They are found in all tissues and in the central and peripheral nervous system.

What are endocannabinoids?

Cannabinoids that our body produces naturally.

What are phytocannabinoids?

Cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.

What factors does the Endocannabinoid System affect?

The Endocannabinoid System affects factors such as energy balance, metabolism, stress response, autonomic nervous system, pain response, temperature regulation, immune system, sleep, memory, mood or appetite, among other factors.

About Upani

Upani Manifesto

At Upani we want to talk to you face to face, no frills.

If you ask us why we created Upani, the answer is because we want to transform our way of life.

Nowadays, cases of anxiety, stress or insomnia are becoming more and more common and we are part of that generation that has seen it and suffered from it. We discovered a product that at that time had not been fully exploited and that its studies demonstrated its multiple benefits. As you can guess, we are talking about CBD.

At first, like most of us, we didn't really know what it was, we didn't know how it worked or if it was really effective. We studied the data on CBD, we researched, we asked everything we didn't know and, above all, we tried it.

The result was that we were able to master our own sense of unease, stress and anxiety. We then thought that if we were able to transmit what we felt, we could help many people.

Perhaps you can identify when we talk about rapid heartbeats, when we talk about pressure in the chest or the sensation of suffocation. Perhaps you have seen for yourselves that all this has prevented you from getting a good night's sleep. We've been there too.

We know how much ignorance there is about CBD and the confusion it leads to. We want to help you understand it and enjoy it.

CBD is not a secret, it is not a magic recipe. Its power is that in our bodies already resides the Endocannabinoid System, CBD is only responsible for linking and activating the receptors.

If you join us we will help you discover all it can do for you, will you join the #UpaniMovement?

Why the lunar phases?

Just as the phases of the moon interfere with the tides, they also interfere with our moods. At UPANI we have taken the liberty of appropriating this concept to transfer it to our CBD oils and speak positively. Moon phases are a metaphor for measuring our ailments, our worries or our problems.

CBD oil, like the moon phases, influences you but does not dominate you. It is not addictive, has no contraindications or side effects and is totally natural.

What is the difference between the 3 products?

The difference in the products is only in the percentage. The compound is the same and they are of the same quality. That is, what really varies is the amount of extract per drop, so 5 drops of Luna Creciente (10%) would be equivalent to 10 drops of Luna Nueva (5%).

Why are our oils Broad Spectrum and not Full Spectrum or Isolate?

First of all, we will explain the three types of CBD oil that exist:

01. Full Spectrum

The effect is much more consistent and powerful because it contains all the cannabinoids acting together. This is called the entourage effect. Dr. Ethan Russo demonstrated that it takes 4 times the amount of isolated cbd (isolate) to achieve the full spectrum effect.

✖ It contains THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid.

02. Isolate / Isolate: pure CBD.

✔ It has 0% THC.

✖ Being pure CBD and not having the rest of cannabinoids it does not benefit from the entourage effect, explained above.

03. Broad Spectrum

✔ It benefits from the entourage effect like full spectrum and also has 0% THC like isolate.

✖ We have not found any.

In short, the Broad Spectrum maintains all the benefits of the Full Spectrum as it contains all the cannabinoids (CBG, CBN, CBC ...) acting together, which makes the effect much more consistent and effective but instead has 0% THC as the Isolate which makes it safer to use. In short, we keep the greatest benefits but without losing safety.

Where to store CBD and how long does it last open?

It is advisable to keep the bottle in a cool and dark place.

The safest way to ensure that the oil stays fresh for a long time is to store it in the refrigerator and protect it from direct light, humidity and heat.

Once opened, it is recommended to use it in less than 6 months.

Unopened, its shelf life is 2 years if stored as mentioned above.
