This month's interview excites us because it is the first one we have done on muscle recovery. We contacted Miguel because he is one of our best clients and we wanted to know, with his permission, what he used Upani for. When we found out, we asked without hesitation if we could interview him.
What we didn't expect was for him to tell us, “I started with Upani. Then I tried another brand that was a little cheaper and the result was not good. I returned to Upani and so I continue.” After all, for us, having opted for quality has been a good idea.
Can you tell us what you use Crescent Moon for?
I use Crescent Moon oil to sleep better and thus improve my recoveries after training. I usually train about 4 or 5 days a week. I am now 47 years old and I began to notice that the days after training I woke up very sore at the joint and muscle level. Knees, calves, lumbar...etc. Always loaded. I spent the day stretching. I have played soccer for about 30 years and that takes its toll. At my age, training is just as important as rest.
What kind of sport do you do?
About 10 years ago I left football and started sports such as crossgym, running, trail, swimming and surfing. We started with medium distance races (half marathons) on asphalt and in the mountains. I have been surfing for 12 years (when I can) and doing indoor sports such as crossgym, gym and swimming in the winter.
How do you use CBD oil?
I take 3 or 4 drops before going to sleep.
Do you notice a difference when you use Upani and when you don't use it?
I take CBD seasonally, especially if I'm preparing for a race or if I feel like doing slightly more demanding workouts. The first two weeks after stopping taking CBD I don't notice much, but from then on I start to sleep worse, and I immediately start to strain my muscles. And it's not that with the oil I sleep more hours, I'm not a big sleeper. What I notice with its use is that I fall asleep sooner, it is less difficult for me to fall asleep. And the hours I sleep I do so more deeply. Even some nights when I stay awake, I notice that I am muscularly relaxed. All of this translates into noticeably different muscle recovery.
Have you used other methods for muscle recovery?
I usually take some herbal pills (valerian, lemon verbena and poppy extract) to sleep. I combine them seasonally with CBD. But what I was really sick of was ibuprofen. With the use of CBD I am able to greatly reduce the use of ibuprofen, which I take when there are no more options and at specific times.
How did you find us and why did you choose us?
I learned about CBD a few years ago when reading an interview with Aritz Aramburu (surfer from Zarautz). He was talking about a trip to Indonesia where he had an injury. A local physio recommended CBD to him and he hasn't stopped taking it since. From that interview I started reading about the subject, it interested me. I located several websites that supplied this product and tried a couple.
Have you tried other CBD oils before Upani?
I started with Upani. Then I tried another brand that was a little cheaper and the result was not good. I returned to Upani and so I continue.
What opinion do you have about us?
So far very good, both in quality and service. The truth is that I usually take into account the importance that people give to taking care of the details in their work. It shows interest in what is yours and that usually translates into product quality. Upani seems to me to be a brand that takes care of the details, both in presentation and service. And that usually translates into product quality.
Would you recommend the use of CBD for athletes?
Definitely. In this country we are a little behind in the use of this product.
Why do you think the use of CBD is not so widespread?
I assume you are referring to Spain, because in the US and the rest of Europe it is not like that. Well I see a mixture of fear and ignorance. When I tell people about the use of CBD, they all make the same joke… You can imagine it. And it makes me laugh, because they don't even think about what they put in their body when they go to a pharmacy for traditional medication. They open the box, eat the corresponding chemical pill and that's it. That doesn't give them respect. They use anti-inflammatories, anxiolytics, muscle relaxants...etc with great joy. And yet this gives them respect. It is a cultural and educational issue. A matter of time… I hope.
